Directions from Washington, DC:
1. I-95 South toward Richmond
2. Near Richmond take the 295 bypass toward Norfolk/VA Beach
3. Follow bypass to I-64 East
4. Follow I-64 to Exit #264 which is I-664 South
5. Follow I-664 to Exit #15-B, which is I-64 (again!)
6. Follow I-64 to Exit #291-B which is Route 168. You will come to a toll road for the last few miles before you enter North Carolina. You can avoid the toll by taking the exit marked "last exit before toll" and following the signs for 168 Business. Google maps can guide you.
7. Continue on Route 168 which will turn into Route 158
8. Follow Route 158 and cross a long bridge into the Outer Banks
9. Get in left lane and watch for signs on right side of the road for the Wright Brothers Memorial. When you see the Brown Park Service Memorial sign (on the right), turn left onto Asheville. Bear right onto Salem Avenue. House is second from the far end, on the right hand side.
If you get to the Wright Brothers Memorial, you have gone too far! Turn around and come back and you will see Asheville.
